Dates
or khajur grow on tall palms. The fruit are oval shaped,
reddish brown berries with sweet pulp and hard seeds.
The leaves, flowers, fruits and seeds are all useful.
The leaves have the quality of an aphrodisiac and are
also good for the stomach. The fruits have a cooling
effect.
- Dates are good for respiratory disorders, cough
and cold. They also help hiccups and dryness of mouth.
They cure constipation and nervous disorders.
- Make a paste of dates, raisins, pepper, fennel
(saunf) seeds, honey and ghee. Have it twice a day.
It cures respiratory disorders and chest congestion.
- Soak 4-5 dates in hot milk for a few hours and then
take the preparation at bedtime if you have constipation.
- Dates and raisins mixed in honey are excellent for
nervous disorders and act as a rejuvenator.
