Vegetables
and Fruits For your Good Health >> Guava
Guava
or amrood is an inexpensive and tasty fruit. It contains
Vitamin C and iron. It is the poor man's answer to pomegranate
and grape. It is good for the teeth and gums. It strengthens
bones and joints. It builds body immunity and is good
for the digestive system.
Guavas improve blood circulation and are also good
for the skin. They are fibrous and add roughage to the
diet. They help regulate the peristaltic movement and
cure constipation.
This fruit does not contain much sugar and is very
low on calories. People suffering from obesity, diabetes
and arthritis can have guavas. In return, guavas will
keep their health fine tunes and also keep them active.
- Wash and peel 5-6 guavas and run in a blender.
If the guavas are not enough, you can add a bit of
sugar. Guava juice is very nourishing and cooling.
Sometimes guavas are too hard and contain too many
seeds. The elderly, in particular, may have a problem
biting into tough guavas. Making guava juice is the
best answer.
- Guava can be mixed with orange, apple, bananas and
potato to make fruit chaat. This can be had after
dinner or even during lunch. Late afternoon, with
still a few hours to go before dinner? Munch fruit
chaat rather than reach out for those biscuits or
namkeen bhujiyas.
