This
delicious, juicy, citrus fruit is well known for its
medicinal and cosmetic properties. Rich in vitamin C,
it improves the body's resistance to common cold and
cough. It helps in healing. It cures anemia and nausea.
Two oranges, eaten after a good meal, ensure quick digestion.
Orange oil is used by aroma therapists to soothe
the nerves and for relaxation.
- Peel and remove seeds from 6 large oranges. Mix
in a blender. Add a few leaves of fresh coriander,
finely chopped ginger and 2 tsp. of lemon juice. Serve
chilled. Orange juice is an excellent appetizer. It
refreshes the body and removes tiredness.
- Orange is very good for the skin. If applied regularly,
orange juice lightens freckles and pigmentation. Sun
dry the rind of 4 oranges. When completely dry, grind
the rind in a mixer. Mix 2 tbsp. of Fuller's earth
and 4-5 tbsp. of fresh cream to make a paste. Leave
on face, rough elbows and neck for 30 mins. Wash off
with cold water. This pack makes the skin supple,
smooth and glowing. It removes blemishes. If you want
to save time, you can make a bigger quantity of the
face pack by mixing the dried orange rind and Fuller's
earth proportionately and store in a clean jar. Just
before use, you can mix the powder in fresh cream.
