| Pepper Rasam
Ingredients:
1. 1 small tomato, chopped into small cubes
2. 1 1/2 tsp peppercorns
3. 1 tsp cumin seeds
4. 1 tsp mustard seeds
5. 1 sprig curry leaves
6. 2 tsp thick tamarind juice
7. 1/2 tsp sugar or jaggery water
8. 1 tsp chopped coriander leaves
9. A pinch of hing(asoefetida)
10. Salt to taste
11. 2 tsp ghee(clarified butter)
12. 6 cups of water
Method
1. Powder the peppercorns in a peppermill or coffee
grinder to get a very coarse powder.
2. Mix together the water, tomato, pepper,salt,sugar(jaggery)
and tamarind juice.
3. Bring it to a boil on a low flame.
4. Season with mustard, hing, curry leaves and cumin
in ghee.
5. Garnish with chopped coriander.
Eat when hot with plain rice.
