Think
of hair care and good old shikakai at once comes to
mind. This plant is known to contribute towards thick,
lustrous and healthy hair. Shikakai formed an integral
part of the bath routine and is used in the making of
hair shampoos.
It has essential oils and iron. It strengthens hair
and removes split ends. It is used in soap, shampoos,
hair oils and rinses.
- Soak a few pods of shikakai overnight. Use the
water to wash hair. It cleans hair right till the
roots and removes dandruff. It strengthens weak hair
and gives it a healthy shine.
- Soak 10-12 pods of shikaki in water for a few hours,
preferably overnight. Take the soaked pods and crush
into a paste. Mix one tsp. of black pepper powder
and two tbsp. of fresh curd. Mix together and apply
to hair, taking care to cover the scalp as well. Leave
for at least half an hour. Wash off with a mild shampoo.
This is an excellent remedy for dandruff and dull,
lanky hair. It makes hair shiny and manageable.
