Spinach
or palak is rich in iron, Vitamin A, B and C. it purifies
the blood and adds roughage to the diet. It improves
eyesight, increases body resistance and enhances the
level of haemoglobin. It regulates the bowels and removes
impurities from the stomach and intestines.
It keeps the teeth strong, clean and shiny. Palak is
good for patients of diabetes, hypertension, depression
and anaemia.
Saag made from palak is highly nutritious and healthy.
It is good for the skin and the eyes.
- Add spinach while cooking rice pulao. While reducing
the fat content in the rice, it adds nutritive value
to the dish.
- Don't throw away spinach water strained from the
leaves. It can be used to rinse hair to give it shine
and extra bounce.
- Clean and thoroughly wash four bunches of palak
leaves. Mix in a blender. Take about 250 gm of mushroom
and chop them finely. Make a tadka of fried onions,
garlic, jeera, salt and other masalas. Add the crushed
palak and mushrooms and cook for about 20 minutes.
Remove from heat and let steep for about 10 minutes.
